Art et déficience intellectuelle

Can one be a ‘professional’ artist when one lives with an intellectual disability? And, by the way, what is an artist?

“D’un Oeil Different” (with a different eye) is an event that has been happening in Montreal for a few years. Its goal is to ask questions about Art and the definition of an artist.

Can one ‘create’ as a professional artist when one has an intellectual disability? D’un Oeil Different takes that opportunity to showcase artworks from different artists, with or without a disability. And to blur the line.

For the 2013 edition, Gaëtan met with the artists and spent time with them in their workshops. His work was then exhibited at the event, along with quotes from the artists themselves about their art.
